Good Luck to Team Scotland

Stewart Harris and Maree Todd wish athletes luck in Birmingham 

With the sporting action set to get underway tomorrow at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, hopes are high for Team Scotland.

An incredible 260 athletes will make up Team Scotland and they will be once again hoping to be in the hunt for medals after the fantastic performances in the Gold Coast four years ago.

And the athletes will not be heading to Birmingham alone, with 45 sportscotland staff joining Team Scotland throughout their journey in this summer’s Games.

As the athletes prepare to go for gold, Chief Executive of sportscotland, Stewart Harris, wished them the very best ahead of 11 days of competition. He said:

“It has been a challenging build up to these Games but along with our partners at Team Scotland we have been working tirelessly to ensure that all of Scotland’s athletes are as prepared as they can be for competition.

“The athletes and their support staff have put a huge amount into their preparations for the Games and we wish them all the very best of luck for what will be an unforgettable experience.''

“I am sure that everyone is excited at the prospect of the Games getting underway in the coming days and I know the athletes will be feeling the very same way as the countdown to the action continues . Now is their time to shine I know they will give it their all on the global stage.’’

Minister for Sport Maree Todd said: “Minister for Sport, Maree Todd said:

“I would like to wish every single one of the athletes competing for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games all the very best of luck.''

“Your legacy, as outstanding athletes and ambassadors for your sport, will inspire many people to become more active in their lives.”
