Paige from the Young People's Sport Panel shares her thoughts on the value of friendship in sport

Sport creates friendships for life. It can open you up to a new network of like-minded people who share similar passions and interests. Friendships are what sport is all about.

Through participating and coaching I have created friendships for life - sport allowed me to connect with friends on a different level from our everyday activities.

One of the friends I met through sport is Alice Fox. Alice and I first met through coaching, now three years on we are now best friends and have just spent the past two years living together in a flat at university.

In November I joined the Young People's Sport Panel, and in the short time we have been together I've created new friendships that I can’t wait to grow and develop.

The thing I love most about sport is you are never alone.

You could have teammates, a club, sponsors or even supporters that will always be there to help and guide you no matter what.

Sport is a safe place where you can truly be yourself, the most important thing to do is get involved and just call the rest history.
