Scotland Ready for Women’s T20 World Cup Challenge

The Scottish Women’s Cricket team are ready to kick start their campaign at the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2026. 

The competition, which will be held across seven venues in England, will mark the second consecutive time that the Scottish Women’s team has successfully qualified for the sport’s flagship event. 

Scotland’s journey to qualify for the upcoming tournament was an incredible achievement, qualifying through ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Global Qualifiers, where they delivered several world-class performances, including those against Ireland and the United States of America, en route to finishing third in the Global Qualifiers, securing their position in the 12-team tournament. 

Taking place from 12th June – 5th July, the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup provides Scotland with a fantastic opportunity to showcase their abilities against some of the sport’s premier sides. Scotland start start their T20 World Cup campaign in one of the sport’s most iconic venues - Old Trafford Cricket Ground, in Manchester - on Saturday 13th June against Ireland, a team they beat in the Global Qualifier series.  

Heading into the tournament, the squad arrive in strong form. Under Head Coach Craig Wallace, Scotland recorded warm-up victories over both the Netherlands and Pakistan, with captain Kathryn Bryce underlining her influence with an outstanding 94-run innings against Pakistan. 

Drawn in Pool A, the Scottish Women’s National team will face Ireland, the West Indies, host country England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with a top two finish required in the group to progress into the knockout stages.  t20triseries-scot-v-nethII-ij03062026-027 Ian Jacobs.jpg

Craig believes his squad is well equipped for the challenge ahead, highlighting both strength and depth throughout the group: 

"The depth we have now to choose from is incredible and every selection is enjoyable, but really tough. I think we’ve got a really good balance in the squad in terms of what we think we need to succeed in this tournament.” 

Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of sportscotland mphasised the significance of reaching a second consecutive World Cup: 

 “This is a fantastic achievement for the Scottish Women’s Cricket team, and everyone involved in the programme. Qualifying for a World Cup is a result of years of hard work, commitment and dedication from all involved. 

“Representing Scotland on the world stage is a proud moment for players, coaches, their families, and supporters.

"Back-to-back qualification for the World Cup highlights the continued growth and importance of women’s sport across Scotland.

With momentum building and belief growing, Scotland’s women now have the opportunity to showcase their progress and inspire the next generation on cricket’s biggest stage.
