The 14 Scots on ParalympicsGB for Beijing

Paralympians set for Beijing

Fourteen Scottish athletes set to represent ParalympicsGB

The waiting is almost over as the Beijing 2022 Paralympics are set to get under way on Friday 4 March!

Years of hard work and preparation have been leading up to this moment for the athletes and we’re joining the National Lottery in sending good luck messages to all the ParalympicsGB athletes competing in China. You can get involved by simply sharing your good luck message for the Paralympics GB athletes on social media using the #TNLAthletes and #MakeAmazingHappen hashtags.

ParalympicsGB is sending its biggest team to a Paralympic Winter Games since Lillehammer 1994 with 25 athletes making the team. There are 14 Scottish athletes heading for Beijing making up 56% of the team, the largest Scottish contingent ever.

Mike Whittingham, Director of High Performance, sportscotland institute of sport said: “It’s fantastic to see 14 Scots selected by ParalympicsGB for the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

“Such a large Scottish contingent is testament to Scotland’s sporting system. We are proud to have supported so many of these athletes on their journey through National Lottery and Scottish Government investment in their sports, coaches, support staff and facilities.

“We want to wish all of the athletes good luck in Beijing. We can’t wait to see you compete.”

National Lottery players raise £36m every week for good causes. Since the National Lottery began in 1994, £43b has been raised for good causes, that money has supported over 635,000 projects.
