The waiting is over with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games under way and the 260 Team Scotland athletes are already making their mark.
All the hard work and preparation for the athletes is done and their time to shine has come. We’re joining the National Lottery in sending good luck messages to all the Team Scotland athletes competing in Birmingham. You can get involved by simply sharing your good luck message for the athletes on social media using the #TNLAthletes and #MakeAmazingHappen hashtags.
Team Scotland have notched up 17 medals from the first four days of competition up until Sunday 31 July. Including two gold medals, one for Neil Fachie with pilot Lewis Stewart with Duncan Scott winning the other.
Mike Whittingham, Director of High Performance, sportscotland institute of sport said: “It’s fantastic to see so many Scottish athletes going to Birmingham.
“The number of athletes competing at this level is testament to Scotland’s sporting system.
"We are proud to have supported so many of these athletes on their journey through National Lottery and Scottish Government investment in their sports, coaches, support staff and facilities.
“We want to wish all of the athletes good luck in Birmingham.”
National Lottery players raise £36m every week for good causes. Since the National Lottery began in 1994, £43b has been raised for good causes, that money has supported over 635,000 projects.
