Find your team - Lucy's story

How a new social running group was established, with connection and community at its heart.

The Croissant Run Club (CRC) is a running club that was originally set up in London by Tara Gallagher, a personal trainer and online fitness coach. CRC branched out into cities all over the world and now has 30 clubs worldwide. Tara was looking for people to host CRC in their own cities and myself and two of my friends already went out running together as a way to catch up and motivate each other. We thought this was the perfect opportunity for us to make running accessible and enjoyable for other people, so we started up CRC Glasgow.

CRC Glasgow is a fun and social run club that is accessible for all abilities. It is completely free, there is no sign up or commitment required, it’s just a matter of showing up on the day. We aim to host three runs a month and publish our run details with dates and meeting point each week on Instagram @croissantrunclubglasgow. We finish at a local bakery for a pastry, coffee and chat! The only cost is the treats you decide to buy at the end.

Our runs are maximum 5km to make it accessible, encouraging a slow and social pace.

"We have runners that come alone to CRC and will get chatting to other runners and build connections each week, and friends who come together or arrange to meet at the club."

It’s amazing to see the community that CRC Glasgow has built, and everyone being motivated to get out and moving in all weathers.

I have been involved in sports most of my life and have always found it a great way to improve my physical health, boost my mental health and release stress. Doing regular exercise allows me to take care of my body and live a healthier lifestyle. I particularly enjoy doing physical activity in a group setting with like-minded people and believe this style of training motivates and pushes me that bit more and has been a great way to meet other people.

"I have been able to build relationships through sport that continue to support me through other aspects of life."

Being part of the CRC Glasgow is amazing and something I, and a lot of our runners, look forward to each week!
