Emma
Throughout my involvement in sport, I have undertaken a variety of leadership roles, including captaining my football team, holding a committee position within my university football club, and serving as a member of the Young People’s Sport Panel. Although each role differed in its responsibilities and context, all have contributed significantly to my personal development.
These experiences have enabled me to grow both personally and professionally, equipping me with valuable skills that will support me in adult life.
"Through these roles, I have developed strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills."
Furthermore, they have exposed me to diverse situations, individuals, and environments, broadening my perspective and enhancing my ability to adapt and grow as an individual.

Sports leadership for me began for me when I became a vice captain of my skating team, this gave me a great sense of pride. I also took part in various sports leadership opportunities at school from being a helper in PE classes to leading after school clubs.
Being on the panel has allowed me to feel more confident, this has led me to putting my name down for opportunities and leadership roles that I would have never otherwise done. We women of sport it's super important to remind ourselves that we CAN DO anything we put our minds to.

Throughout my time in sports leadership, I have learnt a lot about myself, but the main reason I keep going is the people I have met across the years.
"The other leaders in sport around me are truly inspiring and allow me to push myself out of my comfort zone."
From being a Young Ambassador to being a YPSP member I enjoy meeting new people and learning something from other leaders in sport.

I had always been involved in sports and really enjoyed helping out with coaching younger athletes in my club, but had never really considered a leadership opportunity in sport until the Sport Panel came up. I have really enjoyed seeing this side of the sporting world and it has really boosted my confidence.
