Winners of the 2024 Herald & GenAnalytics Diversity Awards were announced at a ceremony at the Raddison Blu in Glasgow on Friday 13 September.
The evening of celebration recognised diversity and inclusion trailblazers and honoured organisations and individuals who are actively investing time and energy into making their companies more inclusive and equitable places for all.
Diversity in Sport Award
Milngavie Football Club was named as the recipient of the Diversity in Sport award, sponsored by sportscotland.
The award was in recognition for the club’s outstanding track record of making sport accessible to everyone, regardless of age or disability, creating what was described on the night as “a model that will inspire others to follow.”
Meanwhile there was a commendation in the same category for Amina - The Muslim Women’s Resource Centre, for its work on equality.
Educating through diversity and inclusion
Amongst those being honoured was Enable Works who received the Diversity Through Education award.
Enable’s ‘Stepping Up’ programme was commended in supporting school leavers with disabilities to gain employment. The programme enables young people to demonstrate the behaviours and attitudes expected by an employer through embedded learning and ongoing support.
Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of sportscotland, said: “I’d like to thank all of the nominees, winners and everyone involved in The Diversity Awards 2024. It was heartening to see such strong work being done around equality, diversity and inclusion and there were some excellent examples of people who are making a massive difference in their industries.”
