Last weekend saw more than 70 female football players from across Europe arrived in Largs as Scotland hosted the 2023 Street Soccer Nations Cup.
The Nations Cup offered a life-changing experience for players who are suffering from social isolation and was an opportunity for players from Street Football projects to represent their country in a small-sided tournament.
Matches were hosted at the West of Scotland Premier league side Largs Thistles Barrfields Park, with players being staying at the state-of-the-art sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde.
With success for both Romania and Scotland over the course of the weekend, the Nations Cup was a true celebration of the unity and connection offered to all those who took part.
Head of Centre at the sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde, Barry Fleeting, said: “We were delighted to support 2023 Street Soccer Nations Cup and to host the competing teams at the National Centre." "It was a fantastic celebration of the power of sport and it was inspiring to see so many players compete and play with such passion."
"When Street Soccer host events, they work tirelessly to add value to the community and ensure they support people who are affected in the area as well, so the Nations Cup will leave positive benefits behind."
