National Lottery funding has played a vital role in supporting sport across Scotland for more than 30 years.
The UK Government is now asking people how National Lottery Good Causes funding should be distributed in the future. This gives people involved in sport a chance to share their views and experiences.
sportscotland Chief Executive, Forbes Dunlop, said:
“As a National Lottery distributor, sportscotland’s role is to make sure funding reaches the right people, in the right places, at the right time. We want to ensure communities across Scotland, including rural, remote and island communities, can benefit directly through simple processes connected to and informed by local need.”
“sportscotland does this by investing in the wider sporting system, through individual grants, and working with trusted national and local partners so funding can make a real difference in communities.”
Strengthening communities through sport
Every week, National Lottery funding supports people across Scotland to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.
From helping volunteers create opportunities in local communities, to supporting clubs, facilities and programmes that increase participation, National Lottery investment continues to make a difference in communities throughout the country.
The review comes as the Government considers how National Lottery funding can continue to meet community needs while remaining responsive, accessible and impactful for future generations.
For sportscotland, the consultation is an important chance to show the value of our current investment approach, and the impact National Lottery funding has on sport across Scotland.

The consultation is open until 23 September and welcomes responses from individuals, organisations and community groups.
