#GetOnBoard | Appointment of up to Four sportscotland Board members

sportscotland kicks off Board recruitment drive.

The national agency for sport is looking for up to four people with a passion for sport, who see the value in creating a culture where sport is a way of life, and who believe in an active Scotland where everyone benefits from sport and physical activity.

The benefits of sport are immense. It keeps people active, supports health and wellbeing, and helps develop knowledge and skills. It also helps strengthen our communities and contributes to Scotland’s economy.

As a member of the Board, you will be part of a system which makes the best use of all Scotland’s sports facilities as well as its great outdoors and helps people to take part at whatever level they choose.

You will gain an understanding of all aspects of sport from grassroots to podium, have your voice heard in building sport for the future, and contribute toward helping everyone in Scotland enjoy the benefits sport has to offer.

Completed applications must be received on or before 5PM, Monday 28 October 2024.

We want to hear from you

We are keen to attract applicants from a broad range of backgrounds to make sure we have representation from across Scottish communities.

We’re looking for up to four people who are:

  • Enthusiastic with an interest in sport, physical activity and health
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Able to see the bigger picture
  • Good communicators who can listen, collaborate and influence

One or two of the appointments will be for people with experience in strategic leadership in the education system, or experience in strategic leadership in the Public Health sector.

Board members will support our Chair, Maureen Campbell, in ensuring sport and physical activity contributes to Scottish Ministers’ ambitions for Scotland and in particular, those set out in the Physical activity for health: framework, which was launched on 2 October 2024.

Additional information

We are seeking to further broaden the diversity present on the Board. We would particularly welcome applications from women, those with a disability, LGBT+ people, young people and people from minority ethnic communities.

If you require a reasonable adjustment at any stage of the appointments process or if you require further support with your application, please contact the Public Appointments Team on 0300 244 1898 or email at PA_Applications_Mailbox@gov.scot.
