For the first time since 2019, we are delighted to announce the return of the in-person Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering (COV) Awards.
With nominees and winners ranging from young volunteers to high performance coaches, this awards ceremony recognises the outstanding work and dedication of coaches, officials and volunteers across Scotland.
We are now calling on members of the Scottish sporting community to submit nominations for the sportscotland COV Awards 2022. If you know someone who’s made a positive impact on their sport, club, school or community in one of these roles, the COV Awards are a chance to recognise their contribution.

‘’Each year the COV Awards give sportscotland and our wider communities the opportunity to shine a light and recognise the individuals who are integral in the running and operating of our sports.
"The incredible amount of time and energy that we see from our all the coaches, officials and volunteers is truly admirable and we want to encourage as many nominees to be put forward as possible.’’
Winners at the last in person awards in 2019 showcased a wide range of individuals such as, Sheila Swan (Wheelchair Curling) who won High Performance Coach of the year, Mark Stringer (Athletics) who took home the Technical Official of the year award and Jack Calder (Swimming) who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Volunteering.
Over the past two years, the COV awards were adapted to a virtual setting, to showcase the great work of coaches, officials and volunteers, even throughout the tough times of the pandemic. However, we are very excited that this year’s event is set to return to the Glasgow City Chambers for a live in person event.
There are 13 award categories, each with different criteria and specification:

Young Volunteer of the Year

Lifetime Achievement Award
Nominations open on Wednesday 11 May 2022 and will close on Wednesday 13 July 2022 with the winners to be announced at the COV Awards Ceremony at the Glasgow City Chambers on the 4th October 2022.
