Following the disruption of the last two seasons, Snowsport Scotland and their industry partners are working together to ensure that snowsports continues to be a strong and vibrant Scottish tourism attraction. They want to make skiing and snowboarding in Scotland a habit and a regular activity for the Scottish and UK population.
Subsequently, Snowsport Scotland have have launched the #HereWeSnow campaign in collaboration with ski-Scotland and Visit Scotland with the aim of encouraging more people to ski and snowboard in Scotland than ever before.
Snowsport Scotland Chief Exec, Trafford Wilson says “Covid-19 has created considerable pressure on the Scottish snowsports industry, with restrictions leading to our 2020-21 winter season being curtailed and cruelly, despite having the best snow conditions in 10 years, our centres were closed for the majority of the 2021-22 season. Visit Scotland funding provides a wonderful opportunity to support the ski industry, as it looks to make the most of the upcoming winter season, by creating heightened interest and awareness of what Scotland has to offer in its own backyard”.
Snowsports is a big market in Scotland with nearly 840,000 skier days achieved every year and the industry employs over 1,000 people and makes a £20m contribution to the Scottish economy annually.
Five Mountain Resorts
Scotland is blessed with five fantastic mountain resorts that boast a range of facilities. All five are housed in the Highlands and Aberdeenshire and each are within an hour’s drive of a Scottish city.
The mountain resorts include:
• Cairngorm Mountain
• Glencoe
• Glenshee
• Nevis Range
• The Lecht 2090
These mountains have produced some of Scotland and GB’s most successful winter athletes including Alain Baxter, Finlay Mickel, Alex Tilley, Charlie Guest, Kirsty Muir, Andrew Musgrave and Andrew Young.
Each of the resorts has varying levels of hospitality and enjoy a good relationship with the local hoteliers and hostels in the area to ensure a very warm welcome.

With ski schools, beginner slopes, sledging and tubing facilities at many of our resorts, there is something for everyone!
The Highlands also provide the very best that Scottish hospitality has to offer; with great cafes, restaurants, and bars, as well as an array of other outdoor pursuits for the whole family to ensure your trip will be a success no matter what.

No Snow? No Problem
All of the Scottish mountain resorts now have ground-level snowmaking facilities, which means they can offer children’s lessons and beginners activities. For those in the central belt, Snowsport Scotland work closely with Snow Factor so that they can offer the full winter experience on snow inside.
There is also an extensive network of dry slopes across Scotland that are all within a short drive of local population hubs. So, why not brush off the cobwebs before you head up north and tackle the mountains.
