The Herald & GenAnalytics Diversity Awards 2022 put a spotlight on individuals and organisations who are shining examples of diversity in action.
The evening was a celebration of what can happen when everyone is given a chance to succeed, with awards going to a wide range of campaigns and initiatives opening doors in all areas of society.
Winners included educational initiatives and projects that have improved the chances of children living in some of the poorest areas of Scotland.
Enoch Adeyemi, founder of Black Professionals Scotland, was named Diversity Hero of the Year for his efforts in supporting black ethnic minority professionals in the workplace.
LEAP Sports and Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) jointly won the Diversity in Sport award, which was sponsored by sportscotland.
SSF aims to engage with as many young people and families who come from the lowest reported Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation areas across Scotland. They have positioned themselves in the heart of communities who are most in need.
Engaging with a number of partners and community organisations, SSF are well-equipped to understand the various needs for each young person across individual areas.
Last summer, LEAP Sports Scotland organised a weekend residential for over 90 LGBTIQ+ young people, called Pride Youth Games. The event was hosted at sportcotland National Centre Inverclyde and had participants attend from all over the UK and Europe.
Pride Youth Games 2022 included taster sessions of 23 different physical activities. Providing the opportunity for young people who often feel excluded from sport to try new activity, gain confidence, and have fun. Besides offering an opportunity to get active and find a place in sport. The weekend provided an important safe space for young people to connect with others in the LGBTIQ+ community from across the UK and Europe.
